Did you know this about batteries?, Sat, Nov 12 2022

How batteries are linked to global warming and climate change.

Have you heard of Elon Musk? If so, then you know that he is the owner of Tesla, an electric car company. Tesla was founded by a group of engineers in 2003 and their goal was this, “ a group of engineers who wanted to prove that people didn’t need to compromise to drive electric – that electric vehicles can be better, quicker and more fun to drive than gasoline cars”. Gasoline cars cause lots of pollution which causes global warming. To learn more about global warming click the following link. Now you may be wondering, how are electric cars any better? To understand why we need to look at how electric cars work.Electric cars use something called a battery. The battery has two parts, the cathode and the anode electrons travel to the cathode. When the chamber gets filled up it starts to move to the cathode side and from there powers whatever is hooked up to the battery. The larger the battery, the more power it is able to hold. HOWEVER, batteries degrade over time, this also means they get smaller. When they get too small they cant supply enough energy. That's why the battery life in an old device gets used up quickly.
